Raiders owner Mark Davis (and his late father) always dreamed of having a stadium like this, and the franchise had to relocate to Las Vegas to get it. Allegiant Stadium doesn’t have all the bells, whistles and spaceship feel of SoFi Stadium in Los Angeles. But it is a state-of-the-art football venue with great sightlines from every seat and real grass.

Davis takes the grass so seriously that he has it grown and watered outside before it’s rolled indoors for games. The local college football team, UNLV, uses the stadium but not the Raiders’ grass and has to play on turf.

The Athletic has compiled 32 stadium guides, one for each NFL team, to give fans vital information about the game day experience. We’ve also asked readers to weigh in on the best food, beer and tailgate options at each stadium, among other things, to help football fans enjoy their visit.

They will enjoy the food at Allegiant Stadium, as it is much better than in Oakland. Fans also don’t have to worry about being in a porta-potty and having it turned over by an angry mob after a loss. And they can walk to the Las Vegas Strip after the game to keep the party going.

The last time these teams met, the Raiders upset the Chiefs in Arrowhead Stadium on Christmas Day. The Chiefs got payback by winning the Super Bowl at Allegiant Stadium. As always, this matchup will serve as a good barometer of where the Raiders stand in the AFC West.

Fan tradition to know: ‘The Autumn Wind’

Before the Raiders run out of the tunnel to take the field, they turn off the lights and play a video montage with “The Autumn Wind” as the audio backdrop. Typically, the video features current and former Raiders players and coaches. Afterward, the Raiders are introduced, and the Al Davis Memorial Torch is lit. Regardless of who fans are rooting for, it’s a memorable experience that blends the past and present.

Tashan Reed’s favorite thing

The open-air press box. It may sound like a small detail, but it makes a big difference when it comes to getting a feel for the atmosphere and emotion of the game. Those of us in the press box are working, of course, but it adds to the fun.

Vic Tafur’s favorite thing

The “Black Hole” section in the end zone in Oakland, where rowdy, costumed fans screamed the entire game, is now gone, replaced by a nightclub lounge complete with leather couches, a DJ and bottle service. I’m confident the fan experience in Vegas will get more jovial once the team starts winning. Until then, I’ll go with the sightlines (and the short walk to the Las Vegas Strip).

The Athletic’s stadium ranking: 7

A year ago, our Jon Machota noted Allegiant Stadium had “the smallest number of reporters who have attended a game there.” Why? Partially because it hadn’t yet hosted a Super Bowl, which it did in February. The game went off without a hitch. Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce described the indoor grass field as the “best” he’d ever played on, and the NFL indicated it’ll soon be bringing a Super Bowl back to Las Vegas.

For a typical Raiders game, Allegiant Stadium gets incredibly loud. The view from most seats is great, and there’s no shortage of quality food, drink and merchandise options.

The biggest complaint may be the price to get in. Allegiant Stadium had one of the highest average ticket prices in the NFL last season. The Raiders’ fan base remains rabid, and fans of opposing teams travel from all over the country to visit Las Vegas.

Fans’ game day advice

The Athletic surveyed NFL fans for their feedback on the following questions:

What is the ‘best bang for your buck’ seating section?

It’s not for the faint of heart as they’re the most expensive seating bowl tickets, but Sections 112 and 134 come with all you can eat and drink … and we are talking lobster tails and top-shelf booze! You also will likely be hobnobbing with NFL legends, celebrities and titans of industry. That is all downstairs, under the seating bowl, and it includes a patio at field level directly behind the team bench. You can watch the team managers getting everything ready pregame and can sometimes even interact with players. The opposing team is on the 112 side and the Raiders are at 134. These are also 50-yard line tickets. So, it’s not cheap, but they are an incredible bang for those with big bucks! — John P.

What’s the can’t-miss food?

Hands down, it is the smoked brisket burrito at BBQ Mexicana, located outside Sections 122 and 314. Unless you are vegetarian. — Christopher F.

The Sicilian pepperoni pizza near the clubhouse area is my go-to. — Joe V.

The Greek/Mediterranean kabob and rice food cart on the upper level is fantastic. It’s light and satisfying if you’re looking to avoid greasy eats. — Al A.

What’s the best beer option?

The MarioChelada. — Mario P.

Where is the best spot to take a photo?

From just about any angle, the Al Davis Memorial Torch with the window to the strip behind it, is epic! — John P.

What are the kid-friendly activities/options at the stadium?

There’s a cool display on the east side of the stadium, along the interior stadium concourse, with a football helmet from every high school football team in Nevada. See if you can find your school! — John P.

Where is the best place to tailgate?

Lot J. — Eric G.

The pre-parties up and down the Strip are only rivaled by the postgame parties up and down the Strip! You will see people wearing every NFL jersey. If you want to talk NFL with fans from around the country (and the world), we’ve got it on the Strip! — John P.
