Franchise fees & Royalties

Here are the main ongoing fees the franchisor will ask you to pay going forward to run the franchise.

Initial Franchise Fee

The Initial Franchise Fee for opening a Boston’s Business is set at $50,000. This fee covers the pre-opening assistance provided to franchisees to help them open their Boston’s Business and also offsets some franchise recruitment expenses. It is uniformly imposed, fully earned upon receipt, and non-refundable, payable upon signing the Franchise Agreement.

Royalty Fee

The Royalty is calculated as 5% of Gross Sales, paid weekly. This ongoing payment allows franchisees to use Boston’s marks and intellectual property and supports ongoing support and assistance from the franchisor.

Brand Fund Contribution

The brand fund contribution is 3% of weekly gross sales, which is due at the same time as the royalty. This fee supports a system-wide “Brand Fund,” which is utilized to promote and build Boston’s brand across the network.

Local Advertising Payment

If a franchisee’s local advertising expenditure falls short of the required 1% of Gross Sales, the difference must be paid to the franchisor or contributed to the Brand Fund if established. This payment is made after receiving an invoice from the franchisor.

Technology Fee

The Technology Fee is currently set at $1,500 per year. This fee covers various technologies used in the operation of Boston’s Business, including fees for third-party vendors. The fee may adjust based on price increases from these vendors.

Conference Fee

The Conference Fee amount is determined by the franchisor and is due upon receipt of written notice of a convention. The fee is obligatory for the designated “Responsible Owner” or “Franchise Manager” to attend national or regional conferences organized by the franchisor, applicable whether or not attendance occurs.
