McDonald's chicken nuggets are made from 100 per cent chicken breast meat, according to the fast-food giant.

However, chicken only makes up 45 per cent of the McNugget itself, the rest is batter, seasoning and oil.

The nuggets are battered before being covered in a second coat of tempura, which gives them the signature crisp we all know and love.

Budget supermarket Aldi has launched a range of chicken nuggets to rival fast-food chain McDonald's.

The store last week launched its brand of Spicy Chicken Nuggets which are similar to the much-missedMaccies' version.

McDonald’s made huge changes to its burgers

For the first time in decades, McDonald’s made massive changes to its burger recipe last month.

In a bid to improve flavour and modernise the classic burgers, Maccy’s made the following changes:

• Beef patties – tighter sear on the grill for hotter, sizzling and juicier beef patties for maximum flavours
• Grilled onions – new processes on the girl involve adding white onions on top of patties as they cook for added colour and charred flavour
• Lettuce – fresh lettuce straight from that fridge for a crunchier taste
• Cheese – hotter beef patties will make the cheese more melted, creating a smoother texture
• New buns – buttery, brioche-style recipe and freshly toasted

The McDonald's Sausage and Egg McMuffin is being reduced as part of a new deal where customers will now save up to £2.49 if they buy the brekkie with a hot drink.

The deal now rivals Greggs' cheapest breakfast meals which start at £2.85.

Why doesn’t McDonald’s serve breakfast after 11am?

McDonald’s stops breakfast and starts its normal menu at 11am each day.

Branches continue serving burgers, chicken nuggets and the rest of the normal menu right through until closing time, which will vary depending on your restaurant’s opening times.

Food on the normalmenuand breakfast menu can’t be cooked at the same time.

Breakfast food is cooked slightly differently and at different temperatures to burgers and fries and there’s not enough space to do both menus at once in the kitchens.

McDonald’s says on its website: “The 11am cut off enables us to accommodate our breakfast lovers, while allowing the customers who enjoy our main menu to get their food before 11:30am.”
