This is now the main aspect of my husband’s favorite meal that I make :) I serve it with rice (definitely doubling the sauce!) and an incredible recipe on the Bon Appetit website called “soy-marinated eggs.” Thank you so much for this A+ keeper recipe!

Husband and I both liked this; will make it again. I doubled the sauce and used chicken breasts instead of thighs. Lightly browned the chicken breasts, then diced them before adding to the cooker. Next time I will reduce the garlic as it was somewhat overpowering, and might add some chili heat. (Note: Be sure to pack the brown sugar when measuring.)

This was so tasty. I doubled the sauce, did not thicken it and served it over rice as suggested by other reviewer. Will definitely make this again and again.

The chicken cooked evenly. The sauce was a little one dimensional, heavy, not bright enough. I made it per the directions. I threw some cilantro over top to serve, which was a nice addition. I probably won't make this again,.

Hi there! Quick question...did you sauté the diced chicken breast before putting it in the slow cooker, as the directions say? Or did you just put them directly into the slow cooker? I'm worried about over-cooking the chicken breasts since I will also be dicing it up. Thanks!

Really good - I came out with more sauce than I anticipated which is always a plus. The chicken was very tender. Served over rice, along side some pork pot stickers and a cucumber vinaigrette.

I used diced skinless chicken breasts for this and gave it 3hrs on low and the chicken was perfect. I made as directed but added a couple of thinly sliced thai chilies as we like our food quite hot. I didn't thicken the sauce and it was lovely to soak into the rice. We both really enjoyed it with some fresh veg and notoriously fussy hubby is already asking when we are going to have it again.

This is one of our favorites, I have been making it once a week! I double the sauce ingredients and make my own hoisin suce instead of buying the processed kind. I sauté cabbage and serve it over brown rice, so so good! The house smells Amazing too!

This is very good! I didn't bother to thicken the sauce, I like it the way it is. I had some concerns about the cooking time, so I did the last hour on high.

I don't care for the flavor combination, but my husband son just loved it. Personally, I'd be hard pressed to make it again.

Based on the other reviews I was expecting to love this recipe but I was quite disappointed. I cooked the chicken for 3 hours at low and it came out perfectly cooked and very moist It was the flavor of the sauce I didn't like, way to salty even with low sodium soy sauce. I prefer a sweeter sauce. I won't make this again.

This was easy and way good. I used a mix of chicken thighs and breasts which turned out to be a mistake--the thighs came out moist and the breasts were pretty dry. Still, it was tasty. Sauteed some snow peas and stirred them into the sauce and served over rice. Husband agreed this was a good one!

I cooked this on High instead of low because 2 1/2 hours didn't seem like it would bring it to temperature. It was quick and easy and would definitely do it again.

LOVE this recipe! Absolutely delicious. I didn't have hoisin sauce so I added a bit of sesame oil, rice vinegar, chili sauce and peanut butter, which are some of the ingredients in Hoisin sauce. Love it!

Looks pretty good but the directions to cook on low for 2.5 hours for me didn't get the chicken anywhere close to temperature (some thighs barely got past 120) So next time I may up it to "high". I'm cooking it longer, hope we have dinner sometime tonight. Smells AMAZING though.

Winner, winner, chicken dinner!!! This is a great dinner, and very easy to make substitutions based on ingredients on hand. I didn't have any oranges, so I used lemon juice. I ran out of reduced sodium soy sauce so I used about 1/8 cup soy and 1/8 cup tamari sauce. DELISH!!!
